Professional Dog Grooming in Vancouver’s West End

Full grooms, baths, de-shedding and puppy first grooms on Davie Street — shaped around your dog’s breed, coat and temperament rather than a standard package.

Professional Dog Grooming in Vancouver’s West End

No two dogs need the same groom. Before we pick up a single tool we talk through what your dog is like, look at the state of their coat, and agree what will actually work — not just what looks good in a photograph.

Every appointment at the Palace is planned around six things:

 • Breed
 • Size
 • Coat type
 • Coat condition
 • Temperament
 • The haircut or style you want
Grooming packages

Choose the groom that suits your dog

Puppy First Groom

A puppy’s first grooming visit shapes how they feel about it for years. We take it slowly and let your puppy get used to the water, the dryer, the brush and having their paws and face handled — with plenty of breaks and encouragement along the way.

 • Building comfort at their own pace
 • Gentle handling throughout
 • Bath introduction
 • Dryer introduction
 • Brush introduction
 • Paw handling
 • Nail care
 • Face tidy
 • Light trimming when appropriate

De-Shedding Treatment

A specialised wash and blowout that lifts loose undercoat before it ends up on your sofa. How much comes out depends on your dog’s breed, coat condition and where they are in their shedding cycle.

 • Specialised shampoo and conditioning
 • Coat blowout
 • Undercoat removal
 • Thorough brushing
 • Loose hair removal

Results vary with breed, coat condition and shedding cycle.

The details

Everything that goes into a groom

Each of these is part of a full groom, and each can be booked on its own.

Paw Care

Comfortable feet make for a comfortable dog. We keep nails at a sensible length and tidy the hair that grows between the pads.

 • Nail trimming
 • Nail grinding, on request
 • Paw pad hair trimming
 • Paw tidy and shaping
 • Light paw clean-up
 • Paw balm, where offered

We groom paws — we do not diagnose or treat paw conditions. Anything that looks sore or unusual is something to raise with your veterinarian.

Ear Cleaning

Gentle external ear cleaning using dog-appropriate products, as part of a regular grooming routine.

 • Gentle external cleaning
 • Dog-appropriate products only
 • Tidying hair around the ear

If we notice anything unusual during grooming, we may recommend that you consult your veterinarian.

Teeth Brushing & Breath Freshening

A quick, gentle brush with dog-safe toothpaste to finish off a grooming visit.

 • Dog-safe toothpaste
 • Gentle brushing
 • Breath freshening

This is cosmetic routine grooming care and is not veterinary dental treatment.

Face & Eye Area Tidy

Careful trimming and shaping around the face so your dog can see clearly and looks their best.

 • Hair around the eyes
 • Face shaping
 • Beard tidy
 • Light face cleaning

This is cosmetic trimming and light cleaning only, not treatment of the eyes.

Sanitary Tidy

Professional trimming of excess coat around the sanitary areas, for cleanliness and easier day-to-day maintenance.

 • Careful, discreet trimming
 • Included in a full groom
 • Available on its own

Matting & Tangle Care

We assess your dog’s coat before we start. Light tangles can usually be brushed out comfortably. Severe matting is different — pulling at a badly matted coat is painful, so a shorter haircut is often the kinder option.

 • Coat assessed before grooming begins
 • Light tangles brushed out where comfortable
 • Severe matting may mean a shorter haircut
 • We will always talk it through with you first

Your dog’s comfort and safety always come before coat length. Additional charges may apply depending on coat condition and the extra grooming time required.

Pricing

What it costs

We quote per dog rather than publishing a one-size-fits-all price list — because a Chihuahua and a matted Newfoundland are not the same job.

Good questions

Things owners often ask

If your question is not here, call us — we would rather answer properly than guess.

It depends on your dog — their size, coat type, coat condition and how comfortable they are being handled all make a difference. A full groom generally takes longer than a bath and tidy. We will give you a realistic estimate when you book, and we would rather take our time than rush a dog who needs a slower pace.

Pricing depends on breed, size, coat condition and the services you would like, so we quote per dog rather than publishing a one-size-fits-all price list. Tell us about your dog and we will give you a clear price before anything is booked. Please give us a call on (236) 995-6167 and we will talk it through with you.

Yes — grooming is by appointment so we can give each dog our full attention. You can request a time through the booking form on this site or call us directly. A request is not confirmed until we have contacted you to arrange it.

We do. Our Puppy First Groom is built specifically around first-timers: we go slowly, keep things gentle and positive, and introduce your puppy to the bath, the dryer, brushing and having their paws and face handled. The aim is a puppy who is relaxed about grooming for the rest of their life.

Just your dog and anything that helps them settle. If your dog uses a particular shampoo, has known sensitivities, or has behaviour or handling needs we should know about, tell us when you book so we can prepare properly.

We assess the coat before we start. Light tangles can usually be brushed out comfortably. Severe matting is a different matter — brushing out a badly matted coat is painful and stressful, so a shorter haircut is often the kinder choice. We will always discuss it with you first. Additional charges may apply depending on coat condition and the extra time required.
